George Michael won this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Fan Poll, receiving over a million nods from members of the public. This means that the deceased singer will get additional counts in the Hall of Fame as part of the 2023 class of votes cast by nearly 1,000 people in the music industry with their own voices. The same goes for Roper, Warren Zevon, Iron Maiden, and Soundgarden. Fan votes don’t guarantee Hall of Fame induction, but all but one of the five leaders have received the honor since public voting began. Dave Matthews Band Was Not Included in 2020. Fans could vote once a day until voting closed on Friday. Michaels had taken over the lead from Roper since March, while Maiden and Soundgarden switched places around the same time. With those exceptions, the rankings have remained roughly flat since February. Michael’s total of 1,040,072 surpassed Maiden and Soundgarden’s total of 876,722. Check out the top five results below. Classes for 2023 will be announced shortly once voting is complete. It may also include several other shortlisted artists. Willie Nelson, Kate Bush, Joy Division/New Order, Sheryl Crow, Spinners, Rage Against the Machine, White Stripes, Missy Elliott, Tribe Called Quest. Rock Hall CEO Greg Harris recently congratulated them on this year’s wide-ranging nominations, saying, “What a great group.
